I find The Mage well written as a work of fantasy fiction, with the story enthralled by adventure and mystery. Based literally at the beginning of time. The story of two sisters who care deeply for one another and their kingdom's people. Serenity, the younger sister, looks up to her older sister, Nanari. Serenity tends to run on the wild side. In contrast, Nanari is steady and self-assured. The Mage, around whom the story revolves, is trapped in The Black Book. Restless and waiting to be let out. Free to take roaming souls within the walls of the kingdom's grounds and leave only ash behind. I love how the author wrote this story based on her childhood and her sister's imagination. Dedicating the book to her sister was truly humbling. The cliffhanger at the end of the first book, book one in a series of ten, will leave you craving the continued twists and turns of the second book.
